About American Fife & Drum

American Fife & Drum is a free online resource dedicated to connecting, preserving, and growing America's fife and drum community.

Fife and drum music is one of the oldest continuous traditions in America — older than the country itself. It was the sound of the Revolution, the Civil War, and countless communities in between. Today, fife and drum corps across the country carry that tradition forward through parades, musters, reenactments, and community events.

But the community has a visibility problem. There's no single place to find a corps, discover a muster, learn to play, or connect with other fifers and drummers. Information is scattered across decades-old websites, Facebook groups, and word of mouth.

We built this site to change that.

What We Offer

A national corps directory — the most comprehensive listing of fife and drum corps in the United States, searchable by state, tradition, and age group. Every listing includes location, contact information, and details about the corps.

Beginner learning guides — step-by-step guides for learning fife and drum, written for people with zero musical experience. No paywalls, no sign-ups.

Gear recommendations — honest guidance on what to buy at every stage, from your first $15 plastic fife to professional-grade instruments. No affiliate links, no paid placements.

Curated resources — a verified directory of the best organizations, sheet music sources, instrument makers, historical archives, video channels, and books in the fife and drum world.

Our Mission

We want more people to discover fife and drum, more beginners to find their way into a corps, and more corps to find the members they need to keep playing. The tradition is strong, but it needs a front door. That's what we're building.

Help Us Grow

This site is a community project and it gets better with your help. If you know a corps we're missing, a resource we should add, an event we should list, or if you just want to share your story — we'd love to hear from you.
